Bastiaan, who leads Gosling, collaborates with a small, trusted team of architects, engineers, and contractors, with a focus on quality first, avoiding wasted resources wherever possible, and optimising value through inspired, often daring, design decisions. The outcome of Bastiaan’s vision and passion for design can be seen in an impressive portfolio of high-end apartments, townhouses, and clever conversions. He has collected numerous industry awards and, more importantly, delivered beautiful residences for individuals and families to enjoy and cherish.
I sat down with Bastiaan in early 2021 and along with his Marketing Manager, Brook from Follow Digital, set about planning and building an identity for Gosling, one that would live up to the high level of his already well-established reputation and portfolio.
Working through a brand strategy phase we identified who and what the Gosling brand truly is, what it will be known for, and how it will communicate and leave a mark on the world. The work we did in this phase of the project set the tone for everything to come and will shine through in all future Gosling endeavors and developments.
Translating the strategic outcomes into visual design was next and began with the development of the Gosling Wordmark. This simple and bold font-based logo will serve to put an asset to the name and create a recognisable umbrella under which Bastiaan’s current and future projects will take pride of place.
Continuing the theme of minimal, yet bold and deliberate, I designed and developed the new Gosling website. A space online to shine a light on the brand along with its past and present projects. The design is clean and clear, offering bold imagery and lots of empty space to emphasise the high-quality content and important messaging. The new Gosling website is future-proofed and ready to be further populated with everything that Bastiaan puts his name to.
